Brad 49548 Report post Posted December 30, 2016 If you could change just one thing about the world of escorting, hobbying (or whichever term you prefer for this lifestyle) what would it be? Any wish or answer is fair, don't feel like you need to be realistic. Would it be that everyone would have impeccable hygiene? No fake pictures or bait 'n switch's? (Cato, you can even say more red hair if you want. :) ) I think for me my own wish would be for fair laws, ones that recognize escorting as a profession allowing for consenting adults to act like, well, consenting adults (while still keeping those laws that protect against abuse, trafficking, etc of course). 9 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Give ladies the freedom to run their business as they see fit without regulation. Just prior to these wishes being granted I hope that Peter MacKay and Steven Harper get convicted for a bill C-36 criminal offence. It would also be a nice touch if the ladies who have been put at risk and negatively impacted by C-36 could provide victim impact statements at MacKay's and Harper's sentencing hearings. I completely agree and feel very strongly that C-36 needs to go but the talk right now is more about pot. Not sure the liberals like the optics of being both pro pot and pro prostitution. Guest Prufrock Cummings Report post Posted January 4, 2017 I would wish that it could be celebrated, accepted, and enjoyed openly and not be something where everyone has to hide behind identities, tell lies to families and friends etc. I think for the most part (from my perspective), this is a wonderful hobby, I am single so nobody is being hurt emotionally by my choices. It would be great to be at a party with my friends, sipping a wine, and openly saying "Wow! I saw the most incredible SP tonight!" and then people just reacting by saying "That must have been awesome! You are so lucky!" And then no judgement ensues, just a return to regular banter. Sadly, I do not believe that Justin Trudeau is "pro prostitution", as you put it. I hope I'm wrong, but I believe it will be a very long time before C-36 is overturned. (if ever...) But I'm not convinced the Liberals want to bring this up unless they are forced to by a court ruling. The optics of pot and prostitution changes would provide too much "material" for conservative groups in the future... Which is quite frankly sad. :( Many people who don't know about this industry probably lump it all together. They do not see the difference between trafficking, minors, abuse and client/sex worker relationships that many of us know to be wonderful experiences with mutual respect. The Liberals will likely not address the issue head on since it's too much of a political hot potato. That leaves a constitutional challenge, which can take years (literally!) While I would welcome such a development, it begs the question as to who, or what group of individuals would launch such an undertaking. I believe one would first have to be charged under C-36 before this could occur. This means that one of us brave souls e.g. (hobbyists) would have to volunteer to be the poster child for such an endeavour! (eek!) Now, I don't know all the ins and outs (pardon the pun!) of what's involved, so perhaps someone else would be so kind to enlighten us. It would be fantastic if a group such as Pivot could or would launch such a challenge, with the LGBTQ community alongside, but whether that's even possible, I do not know... (in fact they do this repeatedly) the latest in the attack against sex workers of course is coopting language to reinvent sex work as sex trafficking. This implies that there is no sex work, there is no consenting adults, every single ad on any single site represent 'trafficking' victims, forced, isolated, kidnaped, and typically, under 16. The fact that no investigating (as in police stings & cross country ops) supports this reinvention is irrelevant in their propaganda. they've even got what should be legit media outlets calling sex work all trafficking and escort ads trafficking ads and escorts are all victims. And if they don't shut up about it, then they call them pimps OR they say that obviously the people speaking up for sex workers rights are promoting child exploitation. like in this story, the Senator is literally clutching her pearls when she tells two reporters questioning the senate's tactics After the hearing, McCaskill told a crowd of assembled reporters that Backpage refused to remove ads it knew were for minors and, when reminded that the witnesses had said no such thing, countered with the claim that she knew lots of other cases where this was true. When I pointed out that the California criminal evidence against Backpage execs also showed ads being removed upon request, McCaskill asked who I was and what press outlet I was with. A brief bit of further interaction with McCaskill yielded her assertion that Backpage must have known ads featured underage girls because some contained the word "teen." But of course 18- and 19-year-olds are both "teens" and, legally, adults. And as an unidentified reporter pointed out to McCaskill, labels like "teen" and "jailbait" are often used as marketing categories on porn websites, even though women featured therein are (documented to be) 18 or older. Did McCaskill see this as evidence of widespread child exploitation by porn sites, he asked?
