The Art of the Avatar

Choosing an avatar can be a challenge, to get the right tone, to present yourself in the right way for that all-important first impression. Fun and playful, but serious too, in a way. A kind of summing-up statement.

There are many brilliant avatars on here, but today I saw one that really caught my eye, so I thought I'd start a thread to discuss what we like about avatars, how we choose them, what they tell us.

Here's the one that got me thinking. It shouldn't surprise anyone who's read my posts:

Megforfun has a whole series of great avatars, too, and has started an album to display them. I think that's a great idea.

Any thoughts on avatars?

but for me choosing one, is all about.. the come and get me factor!! .. i love to tease the eyes, but i do try and keep it simple. some times its the moods im in, yesterday i had a full front body all legs.. in a sexy dress.. that said i can be classy as well.. hehe

today as you have it up..is im really naughty and waiting.. :P

Shay's Avatar is one of the best. It certainly grabs the viewer's and draws him to her and her message.

There are others' I like. Megforfun has a whole variety of them. (I suspect we will see Meg dressed in some hockey jerseys pretty soon).

Megan's Touch has some attention grabbing and alluring Avatars.

You are right Cato, the Avatar is a great way to create a first impression.

Mine is Jayne Cobb from the shortlived TV series Firefly. Wearing, of course, the goofy knitted hat he got from his mom.

I picked it to celebrate the TV show, which I still mourn a little, and to embrace the silliness.

It's also why I don't like the term hobbying when referring to seeing ladies, fishing is a hobby, how can you compare the two

I also have had, and it's in my profile page and signature, a cartoon, "The Happy Fisherman"

which is a fisherman getting a blowjob from a fish while fishing, kinda seems an appropriate avatar for a fisherman who has a profile on a escort site, not to mention it shows my offbeat sense of humour

And the other avatar I've used is a picture of John Malkovich, only because more than a few ladies say I look like him Don't see it myself, but never argue with a lady

i've been on here for a long time and never found one to my liking. one of these days i will have to get one.

For the longest time my avatar consisted of the generic question mark, and after a period of time it became just normal and I did not even think of it. I then received a PM from a friend who suggested that I might like too improve upon it, and I began to look around. Thanks to Samantha Evans for the little nudge.

Voila.

I did find it on a general avatar library, so it is not totally unique by any means, At the moment I really like it, and for those who know me there can be a lot of symbolic interpretation built into it.

Old dog has a pretty unique one that I get a chuckle out of.

Well my avatar wasn't any great stroke of genius. After I picked my name I went searching for pics. The one I have seemed to fit what I felt about myself. I must say though I have gotten lots of great compliments from ladies on 'just how cute he is', which often starts a great dialogue...and some of the ladies do have great avatars which just draws you into the profile. I must say Sweetshay has avatar selection down to an art.

Anytime we can encourage a lovely person like you Nicki to provide new pictures is a great opportunity so please carry through with the thought!

If if a new avatar means new pics then you might as well go out and get a new purse to complete this and the purse thread....lol

I do like mine, and I will not change it it reveals a bit about myself which is being sensual,sexual and love I do love erotic play.
