Agency or Freelance

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

New to the board and the scene.

Just wanted to know what peoples personal preferences were when it came to booking through an agency or through an individual??

What major differences do you encounter both positive and negative, I'm looking to hear from both SP's and clients.

Thanks a Bunch,

Cheers!

I work both freelance and for an agency.

I can't speak for the client side of things, but through the agency, I can't guarantee when I'll show up (it depends on how long the driver takes to get to me and then how long it takes to get to you from where I am). Then, there is the little business of safety calls. One at the beginning post-cash and then 15 mins from the end.

With agency girls you run the risk of them being more about getting in and getting out, but if you do your research you can find some agency gems (like me, not to toot my own horn!).

Freelance, I do incalls, so you show up at the appointment time and I'm there. There are no phone calls or any of that, though people do know where I'm at and what's going on in terms of safety. When you book, you speak to me directly so there is no third party mediator.

I hope that helps and welcome to the boards!

I would agree with Erin on the in-and-out side of agency bookings.

I've worked both independent and with an agency in the past. Now independent again....I find most clients happy that if they have any direct questions or concerns that they can bring them up directly with the independent SP and there is less runaround and more communication :-)

welcome!

and Erin: you can toot your own horn any time...as long as I'm still allowed to come over and pet your pussy(cat)...whats his name again? hehe

Erin,

As an avid hobbiest for over 20 years, I vowed never to use an agency again. I've been dissapointed with the either the description of the girl I asked for or the time I had to wait until she showed up. I used to rent rooms for a 4 hour period and I always called well in advance to make sure who I wanted was going to show up at the specified time. It makes for a very tense session when the girl shows up 2 or 3 hours late not to mention that she may not look like what the booker promised you. I won't say that all agencies are like that because I haven't tried them all. I can say that ever since I've been dealing with Indies (Independant SP's) whether they are In or outcall, I've been very happy. I get to speak with the SP directly to feel the vibe I get from just talking. I can usually tell with a few minutes if her attitude is right for me. On the SP side, I've been told that they are more willing and at ease to see clients after they have spoken to them as well. I can say that most of the time I had spent with Indies, they were all willing to spend a little more time with me. Now I don't know if that was just for me or whether they generally are less stressed clock watching. I'm hoping that it was because me ;-)

This is very helpful guidance. I only ask because i just recently moved to the GTA from out west where i helped run a rather successful adult entertainment company and was looking into possibly starting both an escort agency and adult talent agency here.

So knowing a bit more about preferences from the real sources will go along way.

Never use an agency again strictly independent. Hate to deal with the middle person. Too much inconsistency!

I am just amazed that one is allowed to work both agency and indy at the same time that is un heard of out here in this area. I actually talked to another sp friend of mine today over coffee and told her that girls back east can work both and she had the same response as me and said ? your kidding ? no way?!. There are many reasons they don?t allow it but the biggest is the agency wouldn?t know if you were getting clients to see you outside of agency and that is considered stealing or soliciting clients, thus the biggest reason ladies get fired out here.

I would always say go with an independent. I'm not big into the agency thing(outside of Montreal of course), and always find there is a higher level intimacy with an indy. Just a personal opinion of course.

I prefer to see indy's but I find it hard to ask what services are available in either emails or phone conversation for fear of putting off the lady. It is much easier to ask an agency about available services they won't hang up on you.

I like when a provider or agency website has what is available listed, I do understand that YMMV but at least you have a general idea.

As mentioned, some agencies are...optimistic shall we say, about the time it takes for the girl to be ready. I booked a lot through one in particular for awhile, and eventually I just added 30-45 mins on to the time quoted...even the girls complained about it because they were the ones taking flak for being late.

Agencies are great if you need somebody right now. But you're taking a chance on a girl that may not be suitable for you. What I like about Indy's is that, for the most part, the communication is direct and all the money is going into their pocket, less driver fees of course if it is an outcall. And generally, the girls are more experienced since many start with agencies and then move on to independent status when they've learned the ropes.

When I worked for an agency I was allowed to work indi as well in Toronto and Ottawa. The feeling I got from being given permission to do so is that it took pressure off the agent trying to get you calls when they're an agency that has 40 or more girls (mine was)....all who need the money just as much. It can get catty when one girl gets more calls than another and another only gets them because shes the only one available....theres a lot of pressure on the agents to get them the bookings during slow times etc.

being given permission to work indi at the same time relieved them from basically having to do their jobs properly....at least that was my experience....as I made more money working indi than i did working with the agency...and that wasn't because of fees ;-)

generally, the girls are more experienced since many start with agencies and then move on to independent status when they've learned the ropes.

This is an excellent point. Some ladies start with agencies decide the job isn't for them and leave. Those move on to indy have also made some sort of peace with themselves about being an escort and tend to have an excellent attitude.

However, in all fairness I have met some great girls working for agencies. They don't want the time and overhead of managing booking, prefer the more clear-cut legal aspects of only doing outcalls and find safety in the agency and driver knowing where they are (maybe more so in big cities like Toronto).

I've also found some ladies work this way to put greater emotional separation between themselves and their jobs. They also feel it is easier when they are ready to leave the business and they often see themselves staying in the business for only a relatively short period of time.

However in the end, be it agency or indy, it comes down to the individual lady herself, her attitude and whether the two of you have chemistry together. In general I have never been disappointed with any well-reviewed lady here.

Thanks to everyone for sharing, this has been so helpful so far. Like i said previously i am looking to start an agency in the next few months, i come from the business side of running an adult photo/ video production company in the west and am really only familiar with that side of the adult scene.

It appears that there are a lot of shady agencies out there and it is no surprise, people looking to make a fast buck don't pay attention to the needs of others, and that is why i have been asking questions so that i will be able to run my business to the best of my ability.

That being said, another question and this is solely to SP's only. In you past experience what is a fair rate that an agency has taken for themselves... 20%, 40%, 60%.... less, more... i want to make sure that the person actually providing the service makes it worth there while.

Thanks so much, hope this isn't an inappropriate question for this board, I'm just a newb looking for answers to questions you can't just ask anyone.
