Default Nomination comments

I have noticed that there are comments on some nominations. How is this done? Sometimes I would want to add comments rather than just "Nominated post"

Couldn't find the information on this.

Thanks

Default "Reputation for this Post" button

Comments are added by clicking on the "Reputation for this Post" button, which is found at the top of every regular post. The pop-up window which then appears provides you with a choice of saying that "I approve" of "I disapprove" of the post. There is also a field for you to enter "Your comments on this post".

For more information on the differences between the "Reputation for this Post" and "Nominate Post" options, see this thread:

Neutral Comments??

I see comments on posts that appear to neither approve nor disapprove (i.e. the ones with a right pointing arrow rather than a nodding smiley to the left of the comment... see WIT's post #2 in this thread for examples). I presume these are neutral comments. I further postulate that these comments have no effect on a person's reputation points. Is this true? How do you make a neutral comment?

Sorry if this is explained elsewhere. I've looked several times, but never found anything.

I'm not positive, but I think the neutral arrow comes when people who have moderated (5 posts or less) accounts try to give reputation points. Since they have no reputation yet themselves, they are unable to give any.

But I could be wrong (it's happened once or twice....lol).

Default minimum requirements for giving out reputation points

These comments would have been submitted as positive or negative comments. The reason they show as they do, and have no effect on the poster's reputation, is because the members submitting the comments had not (at the time) reached the minimum threshold (of having made 25 posts and also having acquired 25 reputation-points themselves) in order to be able to give out reputation points.

So, essentially there's no ability to control the issuing of neutral comments... unless I purposefully start misbehaving in order to draw disapproval to my posts, which would eventually reduce my rep points to below the 25-point threshold. Nah, I don't think I want the ability that badly.

Ha Ha, and here I was envious because I couldn't figure out how to do it. Thanks for the clarification.

Perhaps you were sitting in the "Nominate Post" Pew, Elizabeth. The minimum requirement to be able to make a Nomination is based solely on post-count:

I just had one of my posts nominated by a member who has only made 8 posts. So the 10-post minimum doesn't seem to be accurate.
