STD testing in NB (Moncton)

Recommended Posts

Right off the bat: I don't have concerns. :)

However, I started seeing ladies in April of this year and since then have seen 5. So, I think it's time to have a little proactive testing done.

Question is, are there clinics in this province? Or does it require a visit to my doctor or hospital etc? I'd prefer a clinic. Not finding concrete info online.

Thanks. :)

Thanks, ladies.

I missed the one Meaghan linked to in my search. These clinics are usually walk in (or at lest, call ahead) correct?

Hmmm, if the clinics don't do a "full" workup, my doctor might be best. Just trying to keep it as anonymous as possible as my doctor has other friends/family as patients. I've had a doc "slip" in the past, so I've never fully trusted anyone to "keep their mouth" shut since.

If my doc slipped, I'd sue her. She also know this and will not discuss my medical history without my consent. Tell them this.

You have to make an appointment for the clinics. They don't operate every day - the one in SJ is once a week.

The reason I use both is so I can get tested more often. My doc this every 6 months is sufficient and I don't. So that's why I use both.

The problem with the doc that slipped was the he was also a neighbour and family friend. So, I didn't want to make a fuss. He incorrectly assumed a comfort level that didn't exist, though. I stopped seeing him after that. It wasn't a serious issue at the time, but personal. Anyway...

Thanks, Meaghan. I'll give that clinic a call this week.

Just following up...

Received information in PM that the (only) clinic that's listed in Moncton works with teens only. So, it appears it's a trip to your doctor or an after hours clinic (who would refer to hospital for blood work). And, they don't call with results (unless positive): you're only option is to call them to see if the tests are done and results are back.

Just for info....

Thanks Meaghan!

Sounds like it's HIV only, though. So, I may as well just do the clinic or doctor visit as I want full screening.

EDIT: some informational links to the right of that page with phone numbers etc that I'll probably call to find out "for sure" what testing options are...

I remembered I didn't post back after I made my phone calls...

In Moncton (not sure of other cities as I didn't ask) anonymous STD testing is no longer available (HIV being the exception as Meaghan linked to). As I mentioned above, it requires a visit to a clinic that will test what they can on site (urine) and refer to hospital etc for bloodwork.

The lady said this changed about two years ago when resources were reallocated.

FYI.........
