Backpage is gone

Back Page was trash anyways with lots of scams good SP should use a site like this .

I know there were plenty of scammers on BP and probably more than a little human trafficking, but I know in the Cape Breton area, it was used by some part-time workers that used it to make ends meet when they ran short at the end of the month.

It used to be pretty prevalent that ads would show up from the same girls within the last week of the month and then those ads would be gone right after the month started.

I feel bad for those girls, because they probably won't know about it until they go to post an ad and then they'll have to scramble to find another site that suits their needs. Hopefully they'll have heard of Lyla.com in time to post something here, but some of them aren't looking to enter the industry full-time.

I'd encourage anyone that knows an SP that worked out of Backpage to reach out to them and let them know the situation, if you can reach them. They might be in need of help.

Oddly, the listcrawler version of backpage is still up and running.

It's not the end of the world. Although, at first I was like, "OMG - there are a LOT of confused/angry ladies in cities allll over North America right now!!"

.....but, my friend worked last night - she had just as many, if not more texts than she normally does....and only one was a regular who had her number stored.

There are alternative places to put up ads and apparently they are already being used by providers and clients. :)

Not just North America, Backpage was my goto source when I travelled to many European cities. :icon_cry:

Also, if you have their contact info, reach out and send them to this site. the ads are free, and here you are as clients already waiting, so it will be a win win for both sides. and if they know others, and other clients, they can send them here too and fill the section up.

For a variety of reasons I don't see Lyla as a viable Backpage replacement. For one thing posting and finding ads here must have a certain amount of friction or else most providers would opt to include free ads here along with their paid backpage ads. I haven't looked into Lyla ads, but I suspect to post an ad you have to go through some hurtle setting up your account or the ad itself.

Also the viewing format for ads is not as nice as backpage and if I recall without an account you can only view a few postings before being required to signup. That pushes away people.

Lyla also isn't chasing the crowd that backpage had. They would experience a massive volume increase if they were the new backpage but they derive their revenue from people clicking banner ads and it's a big question mark if the increased volume would generate the appropriate increase in ad revenue.

Which reminds me, we should also take time to click on any interesting ads we see to throw a little money Lyla's way.

Good post, BP won't be back. No great loss IMO...

Just be careful of some of the alternative links. The one I tried spawned a lot of pop-up attempts, and might be an issue for some setups.

The site is gone and not likely coming back

 

Something else will replace it. I know people want to protect children and those being trafficked but it's come at the expense of making life a challenge for 10s of thousands of legit service providers

 

In the short term I recommend keeping the numbers of those local providers you know already and encourage everyone to support their local providers with any extra appointment's you can. It's going to be lean times for them for a few weeks at least.
