I totally agree with Meg on this.

I have asked for a deposit by e-transfer (a small amount for longer/overnight bookings) but only when someone has no references or has no-showed or cancelled last minute with me before.

It's a way if assuring that you are actually booking to show up.

Our time is set for you, and we cannot receive a booking when these no-shows/last minute cancels happen.

But that being said, I would never ask for the full amount up front along with the password. The small deposit is taken up front but it is a very small amount.

The password you can give me when you arrive.

Anyone that asks for it all up front is a possible fake.
