Viagra fears!

Recommended Posts

A guy in this forum said that Viagra/Cialis could be very harmful to you: “I fear that if I use cialis every time I have sex, without really needing it, that my body will get used to this and eventually adjust to compensate for the drug - to the point where I will NEED to take it in order to have sex.”

Is this bullshit or is it possible that getting used to these drugs could permanently and seriously affect your ability to have sex without pharmaceutical assistance?:x

A lot of this is myth, legend and "placebo effect". If you cannot get it up and V or C helps, no loss - you're ahead!

If you can get it up on your own when you want, and use V or C for a firmer erection, just keep on making sure that you can get it up on your own, i.e. don't use it all the time.

The literature for the daily-use drug should clarify.

Hello folks,

Cialis, Viagra and others just cause the dilatation of cavernous areas of the penis allowing the blood to fill them. There is no physiological dependence, meaning, they will not reduce your ability to function without. I do agree with one statement that if you use them for a long time, you might not notice that your "abilities" have gone down "naturally" with the passage of time.

Some of you might know that Viagra was initially developped as an antihypertensive molecule but failed as a blood pressure lowering drug. When the test subjects held on to the study medication at the end, researches thought they should ask and that's when they discovered they had a winner molecule with another function :-P

Thre are 3 main sex pills.

Viagra-originally discovered as a Heart pill

Cialis- discovered to lower blood pressure

Levitra- just sex pill

They all work differentlt and have different side effects

Being diabetic . I found that cialis works the best for me on an empty stomach, but can be used with food.

the other two for best results is on an empty stomach.

Levitra and Viagra did not work for me.

The 2.5 mg dossage has just become availble in canada in recent months. But this is for severe E.D. and is to be taken daily.

I did see an article on CNN about teenagers using viagra to screw all day or all night. These teens in the interview said they don't need it and said it seems to be the drug of choice for now..... A doctor was also interviewed and she said that viagra's long term effects on a healthy male was not know at this time but did caution that taking viagra while your healthy may not be a smart thing to do.

Unfortunately it may not be your biology which causes the caber to droop. Antidepressants, chronic heartburn meds, cholesterol-lowering drugs, and a host of other things which treat the ails that inflict the slowly ageing can cause side effects like that.

Well once again, there is no history of depression, never had heartburn and the isn't any cholesterol problems in the family either. Just got checked out and my body is as healthy as can be.

I tried one of my boyfriend's viagras once. I was bored, so I wanted to see what it would do. Didn't really do anything, except perhaps a slightly enlarged clit. The next day I measured my blood pressure and it was abnormally high. I encouraged my boyfriend not to use it. I would advise extreme caution.

Hi

I take the 2.5 daily. It keeps me ready and the dr. Recommended it as it works positively with my blood pressure meds - isn't it fun to age?!

I am very near 60 and would be lying if I pretended my performance is the same as even my 40's. No problem achieving lift off but the firmness and duration is certainly different.

Part of it is attributable to lower testosterone levels and part is likely mental, one might follow the other.

I am in good shape and in good health......for a man my age. The operative word here is male my age.

I'll let things unfold naturally, keep in shape and be positive and happy.

I may not be as good as I once was.....but can be as good once as I ever was.

Peace

MG

Several years ago I had a lot going on and my mind was always full. As a result, I suffered from severe "limp dick syndrome". Quick chat with my dr, couple rounds of blue pill and things eventually slowed down in life and blue pill was no longer necessary. At the time, I was praising it's existence as the lady I was with was very frustrated and was convinced I was not attracted to her.

It still happens once in a while when I am stressed. Hell, it happened last week. I was very happy when my current lady proclaimed that I must have a lot on my mind and did not seem bothered much at all. It helps that when my mind is clear, our sex life is explosively amazing!! ;-)

I say have no fear of the blue pill...sometimes it really can be a life saver.

Just got back from the Dr. Renewed cialis which is sometimes called the "weekend pill" since it lasts 36 hours while I also tried Viagra good for 6 hours ( confirmed at least personally )

I tried it recently it's fantastic. Just like any other drug don't abuse it and you shouldn't have a problem. I cut it in 4 pieces Still have 3 pieces left

I have tried both cialis and viagra. I never really had a problem but I just thought I would try it.

And overall I am pretty happy

Especially when hobbying I want to be on my best game

To make the mo$t of the time

I liked the cialis more. Less time sensitive

I think the side effects are less

I think I am going to try cutting the pills to make them go farther and maybe have less side effects

I worry about the long term effects but I really enjoy the short term benefit. If I am really concerned for my health I think giving up booze, caffeine and sugar drinks will be ahead of giving up these

I say try it and see. They probably are not for everyone

I assume taking Viagra is absolutely not my area of expertise, but there's no no addictive effects, and many of my slightly older friends haven't mentioned any issue of dependency- any 'difficulties' are tied into health problems, not the use of the pill. I wouldn't worry about it, really.

...and as a general rule of thumb, never take pills you don't need. Everything in moderation.

There are no addictive effects for the little blue pill, however it should be used as prescribed. You can get in in 50mg and 100mg formats (there may be others also). They come in a package of 4 pills usually. I split it into 2, half a pill is enough to cause the desired effect, but that is different with everyone and why it comes in different formats.

I started using them a few years ago when things were not working as well and I did have much on my mind at the time. This did help.

(Aside) One other thing I have found since that time is that I have stopped drinking coffee, was drinking 3-4 cups per day, and this helped in this department as well (i.e. good morning errections!).

Also from my own experience I found that Viagra helps with letting sex last longer (i.e. multiple orgasms) and recovery between is faster.

Like anything if you use it as prescribed there should be no issues (once per day as per the package, it has a half life of 4 hours, there is a list of conditions that it should not be taken with so talk about it with your doctor).

As for side effect I have not experienced many, I get a bit flush after about 30 minutes, and I have to go pee after I take it that's about for me. For some people it does upset their stomachs.

I believe it is all about blood flow.

To understand how Viagra works we need to understand how an erection comes about.

Nitric Oxide (NO) is released with sexual stimulation from nerve endings and endothelial cells in the corpus cavernosum of the penis. An enzyme then converts guanosine triphosphate (GTP) into cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). cGMP causes the smooth muscle of the penis to relax, which causes an inflow of blood which then leads to an erection. cGMP is then hydrolysed back to the inactive GMP by phosphodiesteras type 5 (PDE5).

Men who suffer from erectile dysfunction often produce too little amounts of NO. This means that the small amount of cGMP they produce is broken down at the same rate and therefore doesn't have the time to accumulate and cause a prolonged vasodilation effect.

Sildenafil (Viagra) works by inhibiting the enzyme PDE5. This means that cGMP is not hydrolysed as fast and this allows the smooth muscle to relax.

Sildenafil is a potent and highly selective inhibitor of PDE5.

Nitric oxide is a comon weightlifting supplement.

It increases circulation and you get a good pump while lifting.

If NO is all you need just go to Popeye's and get some for cheap.

(stay out of GNC!)

I have not heard of V or C being addictive.

If you rely on something, such as viagra or cialis, because you fear you won't be able to get it up, it can become psychologically addictive. Which can be worse than a physical addiction in some ways.

I've been using melatonin to help me sleep for such a long time, I can't remember the last time, I slept without using it. Fortunately, there are no nasty side effects from using melatonin, at least, none for me.

One quick note that I want to make sure people know about is that if you have Angina (or a history of cardiac issues) then taking Viagra could be dangerous. If you start to have angina and take nitroglycerin (or have it administered by you - e.g. by EMS or by ED staff) then PLEASE LET THEM KNOW YOU TOOK VIAGRA! Don't be shy. Erectile Dysfunction and taking medication for it is nothing to be ashamed of. For the most part its a natural part of aging and/or a response to medication that we may take. Viagra plus nitroglycerin can cause severe low blood pressure, leading to inadequate oxygenation of your brain and vital organs and full circulatory collapse in some cases. Don't mess around. I have seen this and its not pretty. Cialis may be safer but always talk with your prescriber (nurse, nurse practitioner, or doctor or pharmacist) about the side-effects and considerations that apply specifically to you!
