Unsolicited promotion via email

Recommended Posts

I am sure with BP being shut down many individuals are scrambling and having to be creative to promote themselves. This morning I received my third email from someone I have never had any prior contact with. The fact it was my private email means it was either one of my fellow hobbyist, or it was one of the ladies I had contacted in the past that shared my email address.

I do not think its right for someone to send emails to someone to promote themselves unless they where given that persons email directly. Had one of my non private email addresses been shared this would have caused me grief in my personal life. I am lucky I use a special email for my private communication so in this case there is no harm done.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Personal email = email that contains my real name and linked to the real me.

Hobby email = email used only for the purpose of hobbying without ANY connection to the real me.

I also received solicitation emails recently. Given that these emails have been coming thru my hobby email account, I have ZERO issue with that. Like you, if these emails would be coming thru my personal email account, I would not have been thrilled. Although it would also not be a big deal, as one could just say that it's spam email and deleted it. It's not like the sender should know your real name anyway. I don't know too many hobbyists that uses their personal emails for the purpose of hobbying... so I'm not sure what the issue is here. I see this as a possible opportunity rather than a possible problem. Now all this being said, I agree that no one should be sharing anyone else's email address without proper consent.
