This is definitely a scam or a setup of some sort, why would someone leave anyone cash at anyplace other than her hand or on a table at her locale, why would she ask you to? It doesn't make sense, so you are right too be suspicious!

Gentlemen I will endorse cristycurves and add that I personally would not ever send money to ANYONE unless I had some concrete proof of their actual intentions... I encourage you to do the same.

Sadly you are right, I have seen 2 threads recently about ladies ONLY taking email transfers for payments. I'm not sure how successful these women are, I'm sure they get a few suckers but hopefully the scam will fade quickly. Sorry to the guys who are sucked in.
