I thought some of you may be interested in this article from the CBC NL website today.

Wondering what the thoughts are on this?

Thoughts are that it's sensationalized non-news.

There is a thread and a few more thoughts on it here. :)

It sickens me to no end that this story made the news. Lets focus on things that we can change like pimps and underage girls....Why do they care how many cities Keissy travels too and that I was the first off the plane...Im not happy right now....

Since the vast majority of the population (99 % ?) has no clue about the industry or how it operates they (civilians) would have likely found the story quite fascinating and very titillating.

Insiders will obviously have a much different perspective than the media and John and Jane Public for that matter on this topic.

There have been stories about Fort Mac and lately from North Dakota a story about a shortage of exotic dancers and I think it goes hand in hand with boom towns.

The very exposure the internet provides for meeting perspective clients also puts that same exposure into the public domain. And if I hadn't had some notion of the players exposed I wouldn't have given the story a second glance.

The smoke will clear sooner than later and it will be (if it already isn't) business as usual.

Peace

Emily darling ... I have to say that I agree with MrGreen. I can certainly understand how furious you must be.

But, on the plus side, I really don't think anyone but your loyal fans would have known that it was you they were referring to. And we love the fact that you travel as much as you do.

Newfoundland, as much as I love it, can still be a parochial, extremely conservative place. This will have the church ladies in an uproar, but won't have much traction beyond that.

CBC

Us taxpayers in Canada are paying for this crap? CBC as a Crown Corporation funded by our government and yes....us taxpayers (over 1 billion funded to CBC IN 2006 who was the party in charge at that time?? )...are we really interested in this type of journalism ? perhaps, but not really IMHO. CBC is good for HNIC, and another couple other Canadian content shows, otherwise I really don't watch CBC.

I thought this was a great article! I can't wait to follow the rest of the 'expose' on CBC.

It seems to be a great form of advertising for SP's and/or Escort's.

It would have been even better if they had mentioned this website as well, don't you think?

As for an SP being upset, what did you think would happen when you first agreed to the interview? I'm pretty sure you're not that naive!

Either way, now at least if a fellow wants some feminine company in NL now knows where to find it!!! I know I'll check those sites next time I'm there!

All this article represents is how much bullshit is printed and said in the media. You need to be skeptical of everything you read and hear.

Yes it was a dirty trick they played:(

I for one feel awful for Emily and Keisy, they completely "used" you ladies to beef up their article. Like using your status as a way to increase ratings.

Suppose it could be taken as compliment, much like celebrity in the news, lol?

What I hated about this article, was the opening line that they used...

" street walkers go online!" I was furrious at that! How dare they liken what we do with street walking! I have never ever walked the streets, pretty sure Emily has not either, lmao!

the other bothersome part was when he was in front of the aprtment buliding showing how easy it is to book. Maybe some are that easy, but most of us do not disclose our location on a txt! I think the majority of us are a bit more dilagnt and cautious then to do that.

Not much of a compliment when poor Emily and other ladies have had to pull down their websites and pictures to avoid the undesired attention and backlash.

Cat is right, in a business where discretion is critical to providers and clients this SP (most people know who she is) really fucked over everyone involved. So much for discretion, who's going to trust this SP now. She touts herself as the highest rated and best provider in the province, what a joke! Great providers don't pull shit like this.

Anyone with a brain knows you don't touch the media with a 10 foot pole they'll only use you and spin the story in the most sensational way.

Your missing the point the lady that agreed to the interview is the only one that kept her privacy..

Naive is the one that think that public press is a positive in this industry..we are not legal neither than discriminalize and leave in a society that has yet to accept it as a work like any type of work

The Hotel used for the so called interview, is now well known which was absolutely stupid for discretion for everyone involved, you call that advertising????....well I don't.

I've watched many other shows on the same content, and much more discretion was used by other journalist to protect the identity of hotel names, and most importantly the ladies involved.

As I said earlier, it was a low rate CBC journalism crap at best.

One thing that got me is that he said they've been working on the story for weeks and months!! It didn't look like it should have taken that long to throw that together. Seems like a waste of our taxes to pay that guy's salary to do some internet surfing.

Emily, I am sorry for all you have been put through. I find it incredibly creepy that they hunted you for a quick dirty shot on the news.

Personally, I found the article infuriating. The media has a tendency to spin things the way they see fit. They also focus on the negative; after all, "shock value" makes for better news. Sigh. The entire report itself was nothing more than a bunch of uneducated guesses about a lifestyle that remains a mystery - the way it's meant to.

CBC Radio Noon's program "crosstalk" had their program yesterday about whether or not prostitution should be decriminalized. I wrote in an email,

which they read "part of" on the show. Since then I have been asked to do a radio interview AND a TV interview - both of which I declined. I am NOT interested in them spinning my words to make for better news. They also wanted to focus on the time I spend with my disabled clients. I have far too much respect for my clients to expose them that way.

In regards to the hotel used, I enquired about that. It was CBC who arranged the location. If I was the owner/manager of that well respected hotel, I would NOT be happy with that kind of exposure. I am willing to guarantee that CBC didn't have their permission for that either.

As a client I'm not happy about this whole story. Anything that draws the eye of everyone on part of our lives that most of us prefer to keep under the radar is a difficult situation. However, now I'm pretty sure that this thread is moving into an area that is not going to result in anything good for anyone. Maybe a step back is warranted.

Just a thought people.

I agree with stevyK.. Like they say.. Any advertising is good advertising. You know CBC knows this all too well. They aren't stupid people.. If they were at all interested in having a negative effect on the escort industry they wouldn't run such stories in the first place..let alone going so far as to show real ads and websites..It's laughable really. Besides..How much you want to bet BuddyHolly there wasn't temped to dip his wick..if he hasn't already

I think that I understand that you may want to defend your friend but here two escorts have been exposé publicly

I don't want this to sound insensitive because I wish all the best for the ladies involved, but I don't believe CBC "exposed" the ladies publicly. If you have websites on the internet and you advertise your website on the internet you're "in public". Regardless of what you have to search for to get to your website. I have had the most innocent searches bring up bizarre results.

Again, I wish the best for Emily and Keissy.

Well if you feel that we should be exposé publicly and risk our private life why don't you step forward and. Give us a picture of yourself and your full name..once it get on every newspaper tell us bad publicity is good publicity..

I find it very interesting that guys voice their opinions as the cbc news as a good thing..when I travel there I can not even count on one hand the amount of guys fearing to give their name and been seen at the hotel.

Omg yes darling I need to step back because this is so ridiculous type of thinking...

Vj

It doesn't mean because I advertise on the Internet and work in USA that I should have my website up on 6pm news neither than chase at the airport crossing the border by reporter..that is absurd ..if you think that you must think that because we get compensate to have sex that if someone is rough or forceful it is okay because we get paid to have sexual relation?

Now I am upset

I did not say that I think you SHOULD expose yourself publicly. You of your own free will choose to do so.

I did not say the CBC article was a good thing.

Respectfully, while yes some ladies do advertise openly it is not the same thing. Emily and Keissy and others advertise openly within a small community of the internet. You have to actively take the time to find and seek them or any other lady out.

The amount of people that would accidentally discover them are few and far between. I'm sure it can happen by accident but it's not at all the same thing as being discussed on the CBC evening news where Grandma and Old Mrs. Smith down the road are watching some scary story about their community being flooded with prostitutes.
