No Shows - A Special Strategy

Recommended Posts

Guest C*****tte

It seems our business is not the only one that has to deal with No Shows - with no call, warning etc...

Restaurants in Montreal have taken to Twitter to shame clients who do this. They are hoping this will inspire people to call to cancel rather than not show up at all. The cost of the no show reservation can be substantial and lead to actual financial loss.

This is also the case for SPs.

With a last minute cancellation with warning the restaurant at least has the opportunity to give the table to someone else.

I so relate to the situation these restaurants are in - in terms of the frustration and fear that comes from having to scramble to pay basic expenses (like rent or groceries) because someone didn't have the common courtesy and consideration to call to cancel.

Interesting that a mainstream industry is taking to Twitter to try to do something about it.

Many are also taking credit card reservations now as do major hair salons and aesthetic spas, dentists and other professionals.

I don't think SPs will take this more public strategy but I will say I am glad that other industries are trying to make people accountable. As a university student I waitressed at a small family restaurant and these types of no shows no calls did affect the restaurant in a meaningful way (not good). I am close to the owners of my hair salon and they have said the same thing.

While I don't think people will publicly admit to being someone who no shows - no calls with escorts or restaurants or any business for that matter. But I am curious if this type of accountability would influence you? It would me. I like keeping a low profile. ;)

It does make me wonder how hard it is to spend 2 minutes to send a call or text or email to cancel.
