Strippers Pictures?

I used frequent strip clubs a lot a couple of years ago, but I have fallen out of touch recently. Do you think the strippers would mind if we were to compile a picture database and times where they work and where? It would only boost their business as well as allow us to have discussion, well aware of whom we are speaking of.

I think most strippers would have a huge problem with pictures. Also, most strippers don't work regular schedules. That is what of the huge bonuses of stripping, that you can just show up and work at most clubs. I never liked posting a schedule because it takes away my freedom to work when I please. I only make exceptions for meeting regulars.

The big time feature dancers (not really many left I don't think) they would hand out promo posters. Booking agents for these girls post the pictures on the Internet as well. .

I have not been to a club in years so i don't even know if they still book feature acts these days.

I'm not sure I agree with this. I've been a dancer for 2.5 years and it's very rare that I find a woman who strips is offended by the term "stripper."

I actually prefer the term stripper over dancer. I almost find the term dancer offensive to people who practice dance as an art (this includes some strippers but not most). I'm being paid to strip, so I call myself a stripper.

I quite agree with this statement that most dancers prefer the term dancer to stripper. In those 12-15 years that I used to frequent SCs in both Ottawa and Montreal I made friends with a large number of dancers and always called them dancers and never heard any objection to the term used. In a few occasions when the lady called herself a stripper, I corrected her and said that she is a nude dancer and never got any objections either. Since I never called anyone a stripper so I can't know how the reaction would have been to this term. So, I guess there may be some that may not like the term dancer but quite frankly I never came across those who prefer the term stripper over dancer in all those years. To be honest above post was a total surprise to me when I read it but I have never been a dancer of course and unless I am, I can't make a definite assessment on the preference of the terms.

Those few occasions that I refer to were my friends (very best) not total strangers. Friends always share thoughts and views in a friendly manner. It wasn't like a debate or argument or anything like it but a simple friendly conversation. I knew them for years and sometimes they corrected me when I was expressing a view not shared by them. You have of course total right to decide on how to identify yourself and to your view and I have an equal right to mine and what to call my friends but I would never correct a dancer (excuse me a stripper) that I just meet in an SC unless she is a really close friend of mine.

Yes you are right but I didn't mean it that way. In my book a lady is never wrong and I always take responsibility for being wrong. The use of words "corrected her" may imply that she was wrong. Not so. What would be the best word??. I reminded her in a friendly manner ......or .I expressed my view that..... I am lost for words after over 8 hours of intense work since 6:00 am. My apology.

A rose by any other name.... frankly it is semantics. I think that the "performance" over the last number of years has evolved to being less "dance" and more a combination of gymnastics, titillation, and evocative movement rather than "dance" per se.... and that being said, it is not to denigrate what is being done on stage.

In the pioneer days when I first went to strip clubs, there were always three dances, the first a "real" dance, the second a dance and peel and the third was the rug show (both literally and figuratively, it was the 70's!!)

As to the original point... the schedule can be a nightmare. With so many clubs and so many shifts, someone may do the minimum at one club because of the client/performer ratio and move to another club on the same day to see if they can make their goal.

Not a problem Megan. I was not clear in my first post that they were my friends and not just a dancer/stripper that I met in a bar and the use of the word "corrected them" was incorrect. Leaves the impression that I was right and they were wrong and as you said it very rightly, there is no right or wrong in this (Ah, my brain is working again:)).

Going back to the original subject yes, I am sure overwhelming majority will have problems with pictures. Those that I knew (my friends) I would say they did take pictures with me (we were both dressed well before or after the date) and very few (less than 10% of dancers and less than 5% of escorts) encouraged me that I take nude pictures of them BUT FOR MY PERSONAL VIEW ONLY not public view of course. I think their problem will be a lot more serious (and rightly so) if their face is displayed in public.

Back in the 80s when I worked in a few of our popular clubs all owned by Frank B as was the agency that booked the girls, we did a calendar of the house girls for a few years. It was quite popular and a huge money maker we donated proceeds to CHEO, but now a days I think you'll find dancers/strippers/entertainers prefer to be a little more discrete.

Maybe things have changed in the last 10 years. I managed a number of adult clubs and even was part owner of one at one time. Back then if you referred to any of the ladies as a stripper they would see that as derogatory and be pissed (few exceptions with the really easy going girls) ... At that time the girls all liked to be referred to as exotic dancers (more classy than "stripper" or "peeler".... And god forbid if you called a showgirl a dancer or anything else or worse.. If you called a feature a showgirl or dancer....was some sort of status in the clubs back in those days (the strippers hierarchy)

Things do change so maybe that is no longer an issue.

Actually I just remembered that I have a large calender poster of Pigale/Barefax dancers in my second bedroom. About 50 girls sitting at the front and standing in the back in rows showing all their faces as well as their half-dressed bodies. I was given this poster a few years ago at Barefax on a special night (can't remember what was the occasion) Therefore what I said earlier that taking pictures of dancers' faces may be a serious problem for dancers may not be true (likely it would be a big problem for escorts for discretion/legal reasons.

BTW, I genuienly believe that now too calling exotic dancers as strippers would be derogatory to most dancers (at least some) based on my over 10 years of experience of friendship with a large number of dancers between 1996 to 2007. Most of them called themselves dancers (with a few exceptions).

I danced regularly for 2 years and now I only dance once in a blue moon. I try to go in once a week but it ends up being more like once a month.

I do classical dance and I find every time I tell someone I'm a dancer that person assumes, because of my age, I mean "stripping". That can be slightly offensive. But I do have many friends that dance in the strip club and I have never heard them say they dislike the term. I personally prefer to use the term Exotic Dancer anyways. I think it sounds sexy and alluring :)
