Brossard Prositution Ring Dismantled

Police in Longueuil have dismantled what they say was a well-developed and organized prostitution ring operating in Brossard.

On Tuesday morning, officers arrested 12 people at a hotel on Taschereau Blvd. and one person at a residence located in St.-Philippe-de-La Prairie.

According to release issued Wednesday morning, the suspects included eight women aged 25 to 44 believed to be sex workers, three clients aged between 42 and 59, a 30-year-old manager at the hotel, and a 37-year-old woman who was the alleged operator of the agency.

"This organization was active for several months and operated through small ads placed in various daily papers in Montreal," the release said. "Clients were then directed to the hotel in Brossard."

Police also seized accounting documentation, lists of clients and employees, and $7,000 cash. Police say more arrests are likely to take place as the investigation progresses.

All of the suspects have been charged and release pending upcoming court appearances.
