That second article about the licensing also shows how retarded many in this country are when it comes to this business. How low can that reporter gets by trying to link this death to a licensing issue which legality is questionable. I would doubt the accused check the licensing number before he made his call. Freedom of the press!!!!!!!!!!!! There are some who should go spend some time in Europe, particularly Germany and get a good eye opener about attitude and respect towards this industry.

We sure have a long way to go in this country. Mean time, ladies don't compromise on your safety and for those who followed threads about incall vs outcalls maybe this poses more reflection on the subject.

This is so scary....I have toured Edmonton and was planning on being there RIGHT NOW!!! MY god...not saying it would have been me or Chanel...but this is waaay too close to home. I agree why blame the agnecy...if you read the article the driver banged on doors looking for any info on that house....That took balls..most would have ran scared to get involved with LE.From an agency standpoint I do my best to keep the girls safe...reverse address checks to get their name etc...but once we are in the home we are basically on our own. I agree with KIH..Let's take this as a lesson so that she did not die in vain...BE SAFE GIRLS!!! Go with your gut feeling, it's always right!!!

I've been back to my birth country..twice... the Netherlands...continue to talk to friends and family, these issues you do not hear about in the paper, the girls are treated with respect, society has accepted the employment of SP's.

Canada is got to get off their ass, about this subject.The ladies would hopefully be better protected from all aspects.

On Saturday, July 5th at Hainstocks Funeral Home her friends did a memorial service but she is being flown back to Niagara Falls where she will be buried and another service was to be held there.

I guess a few things come to my mind, the number one thing is there are a lot of guys that are very damaged, they appear in many forms. The Wife Beater, the Date Rapist, the sarcastic multi dater, the park rapist/murderer etc... It is very unfortunate that our society has such individuals. Everyday women are abused and hurt, and children are also hurt and abused everyday. This particular case hits home because we have all been at one or the other end of how this is supposed to work as a business and pleasure transaction, we can relate personally to the story. Sex trade workers are particularly vulnerable, however it has been historically street level workers. I guess with the internet for all and ease of use of pay as you go phones and computer's the new age danger has moved to a new level. I had a cousin who was a prema-ballerina in NYC, she had many fans and some stockers, and there were times in her career when she was in danger, however she had a lot of support as she was respected in the community.

Second of all I think that this is a fringe hobby at best, some would consider it illegal and with such status there is a criminal element that we need to be aware of, to pretend that any type of service is safer than another is ignorant and stupid. As such, regardless of your business models precautions need to be taken, know the risks and understand how to keep them at a minimum, this goes for Hobbiests as well as SP's

The last part of my rant is probably the most disturbing to me as a society (not meaning to down play someone's death), as this is the easiest part to fix and we would rather keep an environment of fear insecurity and rampant with a criminal element than create a safe business model. The licensing issue, this agency did have a license and was hounded to keep there advertising and operations with in the compliance of the bylaw. All this hounding and drama from the municipal officials did nothing to save a womans life, and obviously license or no license she was going to die. Back to my cousin the prema-ballerina, I think she was no less deserving or no more deserving of admiration and protection than any SP or MP. Why as a society do we look at this occupation in such a bad light? A bar tender or waitress is also in a precarious position from time to time, and they are serving alcohol another abused part of our society, however they are legal and legitimate and treated with far more respect? It is perfectly acceptable in our society to be openly kind generous and helping to them?

If I am missing some thing here please let me know but as of now I am fully confused and cannot find a line in the sand between a ballerina, a Bar tender, and an SP? Although our society has a special unkind place for the SP, that can even be 6 feet under as far as many of them feel.

Any occupation has risk but the escort business is higher then most because the law makes them easy pray for murderers (and yes the laws that are meant to protect people also make it unsafe for others).

The question of escorting being right or wrong is a moral issue (Very Personal and most often religious). The debate of right or wrong stems back to religion so no "line in the sand" can be drawn.

Thankfully as time goes on more and more people are forming their own opinions on topics such as this and realizing that what they were taught to be right and wrong is not always correct.

This could have been a social worker making a house call, a newspaper carrier or even a tv repair person! .. any profession that a murderer can lure someone to his/her house to commit a crime. Unfortunately women are prayed on (more then men) and because of the way the law is it makes escorts a easy target.

This lady had a driver (who supposedly informed the police when she did not show up) because of the driver the police knew where to look for her and unfortunately it was too late by the time anyone could do anything. With better laws protecting escorts this could have been prevented but then again if this guy was going to kill someone better laws would have only forced him to choose someone else and not actually stop the act from happening. It's not the escorts fault or her profession, it's the psychotic murderers fault.

I am a firm believer that the reason why religion focus on what is right and wrong (Morals) is to put the "fear of god" into people. When most of todays religions were conceived it was in times of lawlessness and anarchy and those places that had laws were brutal in how they upheld them. Instead of laws (that would require enforcement) it was easier to convince people that if they did wrong and got away with it in this life it would cause them to be dammed when they passed on (and that put the fear of god into people). Religion brought people together to believe in something and give people hope (that is a good thing) but like everything else it was severely exploited and capitalized on and gave some wrong people a lot of power and control causing horrible corruption.

Consider the 10 commandments in Christianity they are really what most of our core laws today. Religion is no longer needed for keeping the peace, I am not saying you should not believe in god or any other religious figure I am saying that the morals that religions were built around were included in the religion as an after thought for a way to keep peace.

It is not wrong to be a escort / prostitute unfortunately a large portion of society is appalled by it. If you ask those people why they feel this way they will say "because it is wrong"... they did not form this opinion on their own someone told them it was wrong and they believed that. It stems from the religious morals for no one should have sex outside of marriage (a law so people were not getting prego at 14 2000 years ago) now anyone preaching this should look in a mirror... if they had sex with someone before they got married they really are just as guilty (the religion does not have a set number of people you have to sleep with before you are dammed!). If someone has held off having sex because of religion and truly believe in this they have the right to be judgmental I guess as they really have made a conscious decision to uphold what they believe in. Anyone who preaches this and has had sex out of wedlock is as guilty as the prostitutes for breaking this moral law.

I find it impossible to have this discussion with someone who has been brainwashed with religion so save yourself a pointless argument and walk away if someone wants to judge you for this. You get random stuff such as adultery and child pron thrown at you as it being all the same and you feel like smashing your head into a brick wall after the debate as you realize you were just wasting your time with someone like that.

Back to the subject on hand.

This lady died for no reason! She was doing her job (Legally) and was put into a unsafe situation with a psychotic murderer.

She was obviously very loved by friends and family (it's very apparent in all the news) and the community is doing some amazing things to help everyone get through this. Just do a search in google news under her name! They had a "escort" car wash where they raised almost 1000.00 they had over 15grand with of stuff given to them to auction off to raise money for her memorial and funeral and the list goes on... It's heartbreaking and horrible in every way but it could have been anyone this guy chose to murder! If it was a social worker doing a house call the media would not make such a big deal over her profession... the reason he profession is being focused on is because controversial moral subjects make good news.

Unfortunately not all agency owners are safety-minded like you. More than a few agencies will send a lady to any guy who contact them, and the lady is not allowed to refuse any client. I wonder if this is the case with the agency she was working for.
