Advice Requested re: Photos

I'm having some photos taken next weekend, and can't decide whether or not to have my face showing. I was going to hide it with fans and hats and stuff, but now I'm not so sure. What do you think? None of the photos will be nude - just a few in different outfits and some in lingerie. Any input, from SPs or clients, would be appreciated.

You can always block, crop out, or fade out your face, but you will not be able to add your face latter if you want to have some shots with your face.

Always keep your original photos (assuming they are digital) like it's a negative. Alter a copy of it.

I'm very much a sucker for a pretty face. Seeing an SP's face makes a huge difference for me. My last experience with an SP was a disappointment because the girl came highly recommended and was a perfect 10 physically, but when I met her I didn't like her looks that much. It may sound shallow, but she had a big nose and other features I just don't care for. We still had fun, don't get me wrong, but if I had seen her face to start with, I would have known what I was getting into better. I appreciate an SP that shows some face...even just a little or a reflection of it in a mirror or with a shadow or something.

BUT, I realize most SP's want some privacy and secrecy, so I can work with that and respect it. Just my 2 cents.

I wish I could show my face in the photos - it's my best feature - but there are privacy concerns. I'm not going to crop or blur them - I think it would be better to hide my face in creative ways during the shoot. Since they're only for work, there's no point even having another set that shows my face, I'm just going to hide it behind fans, hats, etc. and try to be creative about it. Actually, now that I think about it, that could be a lot of fun...I'm envisioning a belly dancing outfits with the veil...a geisha costumes with a nice Japanese fan...a cowboy outfit with the hat brim pulled down. I need to go shopping.

Have fun shopping, out fits are really a major plus for myself.Getting back to pictures, or facial pictures, I think Dummpy is correct in stating that you should have your face croped out for your protection.

Many SP's that have their facial pictures faded/croped out, we can really visualize in our mind the SP's beauty of their facial pic, to go along with their amazing bodies.;)

I did have fun shopping, got a couple of hats. I'd rather not have the photos cropped or blurred...I think they would look better if I used other ways to cover my face, so we're going to go with hats and fans and such. Today, I'm getting a Chinese fan, that will be really nice with the red and black lingerie.

Unfortunately, my photographer has been injured and is out of commission for a couple of weeks, so now I have to find another one to take the pictures this weekend. That's going to be difficult, because all the weddings are going on right now..

something tells me if you tell a photographer you wanted to do Budoir shots...he will make time......heheheheh

Well, there's an opening if I've ever seen one. Let me be the first to offer to solve your photographer problem. I have a camera and can use it. Fee's to be discussed. ;)

Almost anyone can use a camera... some people even use it well (and these days the automatic settings on the SLR's are pretty much foolproof outside a studio setting) ... but for sexy glamor photos you must be amazing with lighting, poses/position and have an artistic touch to do what Nicole is looking for (or the images will turn out very corny). I would avoid wedding photographers unless they have a serious portfolio of glamor shots ... you want a photographer who can show you a portfolio with similar images to what you are looking for (and this would be a studio photographer).

I only have one Ottawa area photographer in my list at this time. I don't have any comments about her but so I can't say how good she is but may be worth setting up an appointment and seeing her portfolio? http://softsensuality.com/ (Name: Annaiis) - just to make this clear I am not recommending her as I don't know I am just letting you know at least one photographer in the area specializes in this type of photography.

Mod, you are dead right, but the other way to look at it, is any point and shoot camera will get a great shot if you take enough. My way of thinking is to have a bunch of fun and take shots all day. Your bound to get something.

But in all seriousness, there are some great professional photographers out there with the equipment and training to get great professional shots. Nichole would be best to search out one of those folks.

I've done some "boudoir" type photos and I think I took about 80 shots and got a handful of cool ones.

I am nothing more than an amateur photographer, but with film as cheap as it is these days (digital = free) I just take lots of photos and at least one turns out nice!

For under $200 you can get a decent digital camera nowadays.....I wonder how much a decent photographer costs? I'm afraid to say it, but I think it's a dying art. Thank goodness SPing is the oldest profession, not soon to dye out!

I dabble with photography myself but won't do glamor shots.

I have many friends who are professional photographers. In fact I was in business with a friend a few years ago where we ran a head shot photography studio (actors and actress's) in Toronto... and we also offered free photo sessions to the escorts in Toronto (I would bring in a professional female photographer every Wednesday and the ladies could come in and get some nice photos done - for free as escorts-canada would flip the bill for the photographer to do the group shots at a special day rate price we worked out with the photographer). Unfortunately my partner who did all the head shot work injured his back so when our lease came due we did not renew the studio space... but I learned a lot that year about photography.

I have a Nikon D70s (It's a entry level digital SLR - and I have two professional grade lenses as well) I also have a nikon point and shoot camera as well (Takes very nice photos but is so slow I hate using it).... I still have all the studio equipment as well (Lights, boxes, Muslin backdrops... I even have a chain drive for the backdrops) but I am only good at product shots and I can snap a pretty good family portrait.

I can 100% say it's an art to do glamor shots. Professional photographers will often get one good shot out of every 25-30 shots using 35mm SLR and the photographers who use medium format camera's often get 1 out of every 10 as the camera's are very slow, the images are very large and that forces the photographer to take his/her time and really set up the shot. If you find someone with a medium format digital camera chances are they really know what they are doing (Since they start at about 20grand for the camera and digital back combo).

Sure the home point and click camera's are ok and that is what most of the ladies use (hell many use cell phones and webcams - drives me crazy as we get more blue and green grainy photos then we get nice clean shots). Nothing sexy about a grainy photo with a blue hue ladies (it makes you look like your skin is peeling and your borderline dead - the yellow hued photos just make you look like you have a liver disease too!

Sure people do get lucky but I have been on set MANY times with everything from professional models to exotic dancers and no matter how lucky you are with a home digital point and click camera your images will never compare to a photographer who knows the art.

If you know how to pose the model, where to place the camera, how to set up the lighting, how to use the camera and wait for the right moment to snap the shot it makes the world of difference - and I can't stress it enough... it is an art and not all "Professional Photographers" have the gift so make sure you see a portfolio.

Most of the models are in a little discomfort for most of the poses... actually I have seen tears of pain with some of the poses that the photographers put the ladies into and even though it hurts like hell to stand/sit/kneel/etc... in that position a good photographer will always be able to get the model to smile and hold the pose. (I am not kidding - it's painful to watch... one girl could not walk after the shoot she was in so much pain but the photo turned out amazing!)... a good photographer will position the model so any unflattering part is stretched out (arch, twist, holding breath, etc..) or hidden and to do that is a skill.

Well that is my 2cents...

Bottom line, if the photographer doesn't put the model into some discomfort then chances are the photographer is not that good. LOL.

And the photos you use are some of the best out there....fun....whimsical....and outdoors in the capital.....love em all...
