Filling The Void - Opportunity Knocks

Recommended Posts

In recent years, Halifax has seen a decline in the number of reputable in/out agencies serving the area. Most notably, Gentleman's Club and Park Avenue have closed their doors. Even Mature Escorts, a well run outcall went out of business in 2005, ironically enough on the night I was booking appointments! I realize that these days, a lot of SPs are taking the indy route. However, if someone were to take the initiative and open a reputable outcall with a nice cross section of ladies on their roster, it could be a potential gold mine! I'm rather surprised that no one has tapped the market as of yet. Any thoughts?

P.S. I had gotten to know Pat (Owner of the now defunct Park Avenue) well over the years, and I spoke to her a week or two before she closed up for good. I told her I was rather surprised that she hadn't given serious consideration to letting someone else take over for her, or selling the business outright to another party. At least that way, the agency's legacy could have survived. It's a shame really, since IMHO, Park Avenue in particular was the jewel in Halifax's crown.

It's illegal to own an agency in Nova Scotia maybe everywhere in Canada. that maybe the reaon no one wants to do it anymore. Besides being an independent is alot better. We don't have to pay someone for the stuff we do..

kisses,

Emma

Hi Emma... You've got a point regarding the perks of being an independent. However, I'm not sure that it's illegal to own any agency. Outcalls are perfectly legal in Canada, and agencies operate as liscenced businesses. Perhaps you were referring to the notion of "living off the avails". I admit, while incall is technically illegal, such agencies seemed to operate with relative impunity for many years.

LE focus is on the street trade where violence against women, drug abuse and thuggerie (as well as terrorizing neighbourhoods) is the reason to crack down. Most LE is not focused on agencies and sps as they realize the supply and demand will always be there and is happening between consulting adults for the most part.

The focus IS on the ladies working the streets {mostly for their safety}but i know from a very very good source that they do not like agencies either.....if you are a even a driver for an escort you can be charged... although this is only a minor charge who wants the headache? Incalls{you coming to me} is legal. What one does in one's own home is their own business.

Believe me i found all this out from police officers who came to see me ...and no not as clients...i had someone trying to black mail me b4 and they had threanted me ..well the police came and i though the gig was up...anyway they told me they were here to protect me and call the station any time....{They were looking for the dude who was black mailing and threnting me, apperantly he had sent a letter to them}they filled me in on the legal stuff and whats not legal.

Now if you want to take the chance and run a massage parlor or some type of business like that ...well thats up to you...

kisses,

Emma A

Review the criminal code of Canada (Section 210-212) - living off the avails of prostitution is indeed illegal (So if the agency owner is aware of the sex in exchange for money or is telling the ladies they must have sex for money he/she is living off the avails or prostitution. If they are working for the ladies as booking agents and do not discuss sex it can be a gray area but that still would not stop a charge being laid but it may get you out of a conviction) but this law was intended to fight real pimps (some municipalities and law enforcement do however use it to bust agencies - even if they are doing things in a non-pimp way) - usually only bothered when drugs, abuse, underage or in-calls are taking place. Many threads exist on cerb about the law... you may even have a local Municipal by-law (Like a parking ticket authority - not jail or anything) that licenses "escorts" the same way a city can license "Cabs". If you break this by-laws look out cause they can send the collections agents after you to pay the fines! (That is about it however - no jail or criminal charge but they can go after you for some large fines usually).

Criminal code is cost to cost. Common Bawdy house (in calls), Living off the avails (Pimping), underage (under 18 years of age), Public solicitation (Street walking or even discussing sex in exchange for money in the hotel lobby)... these are all illegal in Canada. Outcall's with private discussion of sex for money is not illegal in Canada.

Despite the public solicitation laws you can still advertise your services on the internet and in print media thanks to a supreme court of canada ruling that deems this to be acceptable.

Now... for my disclaimer. These are my PERSONAL views on the law and I am not a lawyer or claim to know all the legalities so take this as personal opinion only and not fact. Form fact on your own research and if you are concerned seek real legal council.
