Decriminalizing Prostitution - debate on Albert Primetime, May 31, 2011

Recommended Posts

Video of a debate on decriminalizing prostitution:

A 46-year-old Alberta man is charged with forcing two women to work as prostitutes and living off the avails for 20 years. The case highlights debate over decriminalizing prostitution to give prostitutes the advantages of a legal trade. Opponents say most prostitutes are victims, and society should do more to rescue them from a moral crime. How well do existing laws protect women? How would decriminalization improve the lives of prostitutes, and would it prevent human trafficking? Joining us for this discussion is Norma, a survivor of the sex trade; Nikki Thomas, Executive Director of Sex Professionals of Canada; and Jacqui Linder, Executive Director with the Chrysalis Anti-Human Trafficking Network.
