CL Craking Down

Recommended Posts

If they choose to shut it down it won't be due to legal reasons, as we all well know prostitution is legal in Canada so long as you are not living of the avails of or communicaing in public for the purposes of... etc. Anyhow it's a lost cause here in Ottawa, full of scamers, thieves and thugs most of the time. It used to be a great spring board for some of our best past and present providers.

Agreed

I have heard rumblings of a class action lawsuit being done up in the "help section of CL" because of that

What would it take to start a class action lawsuit against cl?

If anyone finds out if this is in Canada or just the USA let us know. So far it looks like just the USA but chances are they will charge the 10.00 for everyone.

A class action suit ? What is the basis of the suit ? I don't see it even making it to court. CL is a private business and therefore they can choose to not list any services as they see fit. They are also free to charge for some select services as they see fit. For example housing listings in NYC have fees associated with them.

I'm curious to see how far this case gets. Necessity is the mother of invention, some one else will come up with something to replace CL's free erotic services postings. I find it somewhat humorous that given the profit potential for providing said services that providers and agencies are upset about having to pay. LOL, everyone wins scammers and fakers will be less likely to post if they have to jump through many hoops and if they may incurr a fee. That's the problem with the current setup there is no penalty or direct impact on the scammer for posting false ads. They just keep posting them as they get flagged.

I was watching CNN this morning over her in England, and they said the CL crackdown was for the US, and in only 40 states. Not sure what that will mean for Canada, but I doubt anything will really happen on our side of the boarder.

Guest E**a

If they claim that this posting category is so problematic, why don't they remove it entirely? I think that their claim about "separating legitimate escort businesses from those who sell sexual services" is a joke.
